Beloved Tattva Shakti Vigyaan Practitioners,

The celebrations around Shiva and Shakti are linked with Tantra – The scientific principles of gaining control and mastery over our own personal and also universal energies. As a Tattva Shakti Vigyaan practitioners most of you now understand what it means to apply our ancient Shakti principles in our lives. Tantra is nothing but applied spiritual science and we are not here to give out philosophy and gyaan. Because you benefit from practices.. not the words of wisdom. Gurumandala has been always interested in giving you concrete things.. practices which you could apply in your life.

Do you remember us saying Tantra is science. Science works even if its experiments are done without having faith in it. Most of you can recall that golden question.. “What if I do sadhana and do not have faith in it?”  and its answer “What will happen if you drink poison without having faith in it. Faith of no faith it is most likely you would be dead.” You remember we telling you that Tantra works even if the experimenter if devoid of faith… Tantra is like mathematics where 1+1 always equals 2! And it is not what we claim without any foundation to it. Every single practice of Tattva Shakti Vigyaan and Tantra makes you worthy of good by creating good energy-patterns in the cosmic consciousness. You create your destiny by changing your energies thus.

There is an interesting story about Maha Shivaratari in one of Hindu scripture, Garuda Purana. It is that story in which King Chitrabhanu of the Ikshvaku dynasty (the dynasty in which later Lord Rama was born), a ruler of Jamboodweep, narrates his own experience of the special night of Maha Shivaratri to the sage Ashtaavakra.

It was such that the King and his wife were observing a fast, it was the day of Maha Shivaratri. It is said that the sage Ashtavakra came visiting to the king’s court and upon knowing of their fast he asked the purpose. King Chitrabhanu explained that he had unique gift of remembering the incidents of his past birth… And then King went on to narrate the experience.

“Rishiraaj Ashtavakra ji, in my previous life I had been a hunter in the city of Varanasi and my name was Suswara. I earned my livelihood by killing and selling birds, animals etc. I remember it was the day before the new moon and while roaming through forests in search of animals, I saw a deer. Before I could leave my arrow upon deer I noticed the deer’s family standing at a distance. While the deer I was about to shoot was unaware but the deer’s family had noticed my act. I saw a deep sadness in their eyes.. they were wavering and fearing at the impending death of their innocent mate. I don’t know why but mercy overpowered me and thus I dropped the idea of killing it. I thus let it live. I had still not caught anything but I was somewhat feeling good within. I was in the middle of forest so when night fell I could not go back home. To save my life from the wild animals who could otherwise eat me I climbed a tree for shelter. As Suswara I did not know but it happened to be a Bael tree. I was hungry and had not eaten anything whole day.. after some time when I felt thirsty I looked out for water in the water-pot I was carrying, only to discover that it was leaking and thus had completely drained out. I was thus both hungry and thirsty and could not sleep throughout the night. While I was stuck up there on the Bael tree the thoughts of my poor wife and children kept coming. In my thoughts I could see them starving at home and anxiously awaiting for my return. But I had no choice to stay up. I was feeling sleepy as I had nothing to do. And I knew if I slept I could fall down. So to just pass the time and keep myself awake I engaged myself in plucking the leaves. All night, hungry and thirsy I kept plucking the Bael leaves and dropping them down onto the ground below. The night somehow passed and as morning struck I rushed back to home taking some food for my family.

When I was about to break my fast a stranger came to my door, begging for food. I first served the food to stranger and then ate after he left.”

King further told “At the time of Suswara’s death, he saw two messengers of Lord Shiva emerge and they sent his soul to the abode of Shiva. I learnt then for the first time of the great merit I had earned by unconscious worship of Shiva during the night of Maha Shivaratri. These messengers told me that there had been a Shiva-Lingam below that tree upon which I was hiding. The leaves I dropped from the Bael tree had fallen on to the Lingam. They also told me that the water from my leaky canister had washed the Shiva-Lingam. Thus having fasted all day and all night I had worshiped Lord Shiva unconsciously. The result of that unconscious worship led me to the abode of the Shiva and Shakti. Having enjoyed the divine bliss for a long time I stand reborn as King Chitrabhanu.”

Needless to say there are secret practices for the initiated ones and there are practices for ordinary people. And ordinary no longer remains ordinary when he/she gains knowledge of the practices. And one who chooses to embrace the practices definitely benefits from it. Tonight is Maha Shivaratri and many of you might be following your family traditions of fasting and keeping vigil all night. Some of you may be doing rudraabhiskeham or simply doing shivaarchan. Whatever you do tonight it won’t go in vein that’s the assurance of gurumandala to all the Tattva Shakti Vigyaan practitioners.
